My Approach

Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn't mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.

                                                                 -Lisa Olivera

It is my belief that you have come to this page looking for something.  Maybe you don’t know what that something is- you just know or feel “something” is missing.  And, you need someone to accompany you on your journey to find “it” because if you could have found “it” by yourself, you already would have. Perhaps that something that is missing is joy….or peace….or hope….or healing.

Whether influences of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or relationship discord are impacting you, I am here to accompany you on a path towards healing, however that may be defined by you.  While this journey that we venture on together may be challenging at times, know that I will be alongside you through those challenges, creating a space in which you realize the potential you have within yourself to bring about your own healing and growth.

Therapy is a process. YOUR process.  Truth be told, I am not an expert on “you” nor will I have the answers you seek.  I believe you are the expert of your life and have within you what is needed to heal.  Additionally, please know that you are seen as an individual with unique life experiences that have shaped and defined your life through this time. The therapy space is a non-pathologizing space, meaning you are not viewed by your label or your diagnosis, which cannot take into account your fullness as a human being. By inviting me into your life, you are opening the door to finding that missing something and to discover the healing that is possible within a warm, gentle, non-judgmental, empathic, and compassionate therapeutic space.

As you are considering inviting me into your life, there are a few things to know about my practice. There are many different ways that therapy can look in our shared space- this could be traditional talk therapy, including looking at the ways in which thoughts and beliefs impact behavior, also known as cognitive based therapy.  This could include integrating relaxation strategies and mindfulness tools. This could also include a framework and focus on parts work.  And, it could involve integrating both body and mind with the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques, also known as Tapping. As we are whole individuals, with both a body and mind, the therapy space seeks to integrate and honor the interconnectedness of our entire self. Together, we will decide what approaches might fit best in the work you are desiring from your session time.
